In this cemetery, villagers have been buried for about two centuries. The first graves appeared here in the years 1790-1810, as evidenced by the tombstones with five corners and those in the shape of manually carved tree trunks, with already faded inscriptions. Many of the graves have remained without tombstones, evidence of their age. However, there are many tombstones with clear inscriptions dating back to the years 1820, 1840, 1880, etc. ✅ The last burials took place at the end of the 20th century, in the years 1995-2000, and it is already impossible to dig graves without exhuming other coffins or finding human remains. Within an area of about 200 m x 200 m, which is approximately 2 hectares, there are about 1600 clearly visible graves, to which are added those without tombstones and those in which several people are buried. ❗☝️ This cemetery has a special importance for the history of the locality, serving as a monument of history and investigation of the locality's demography. There are also many curious stories and incidents related to this cemetery and the history of the locality. Particularly important are the stories related to the period of World War II when along the western side of the cemetery, German soldiers who fell on these lands were buried (the village was on the frontline, and fierce battles were fought here in the years 1942-1943, with the German army having a military command post here). ✍️ Currently, the cemetery is under the management of the local administration and parish, and periodic works are carried out to arrange and clean the territory. On the holiday of Easter of the Dead, memorial services are held at its ritual chapel, with the presence of relatives and descendants of those buried here. Within the territory of this cemetery, practical lessons in religion and history are also held, where students study the tombstones and their historical period, names and surnames from the past, discovering pages of the history and demography of the locality. ✍️ The cemetery is surrounded by a stone fence and has three entrances: one central entrance with a large gate in the southwest and two small entrances in the north and northwest of the cemetery.
